'Fight' by Divided We Fell
The genesis of our latest song began with a twist of fate. What started out as just a distorted bunch of vocals soon morphed into a powerful anthem of resistance and defiance against political maneuvering. As our creative journey unfolded through a number of iterations, the song organically transformed into an anti-authoritarian protest piece, which we aptly titled, 'Fight'.
The evolution of 'Fight' mirrors our exploration of themes surrounding political turmoil and the need to challenge entrenched power dynamics. Inspired by Gandhi's timeless call to action — to be the change we wish to see in the world — the lyrics pulsate with a sense of persistence and determination. Set against a backdrop of driving guitar riffs and urgent percussion, the music embodies the spirit of resistance, perfectly suited to our alternative rock alias, Divided We Fell.
When conceptualizing the cover art, we aimed to visually encapsulate the song's message of unyielding struggle. Opting for a poignant symbol, we selected an image of a deceased Siamese fighting fish. This choice metaphorically represents the idea of fighting to the last breath, illustrating the intense battle against societal injustices and oppressive forces.
The music video that accompanies the song features a group of young protesters coming face to face with an over-equipped squad of riot police who are prepared to use excessive force to beat them into submission.
'Fight' is a testament to our commitment to provoke thought and inspire action through music. It serves as a rallying cry for individuals to stand firm in their beliefs and challenge the status quo, echoing the spirit of rebellion and resilience.
